SWEET PEACE LIKE A SLEEPING BABY

After your busy day of nursing, you are ready to call it quits and go to bed for some much needed rest.  You’ve done all the necessary bedtime ritual steps including taking care of household necessary chores, as well as provided yourself good, clean hygiene.  You are situated to lie down for some much needed rest.  But as you lie there, you realize you continue to hear all the bells and whistles, machines, and conversations you had during your busy day of nursing.  It is now time for bed, but you are unable to turn off the burdens, cares, call bells, and cell phones playing in your head, in order to get some good sleep.  And instead of restful sleep, you find yourself tossing and turning, looking at the clock, time after time, with your mind still whirling from the activities of the day.

Now, as you lie there in bed, you find yourself wide awake looking at the clock repeatedly, wondering if you will have the stamina to return to work tomorrow, for lack of sleep tonight.

In the book of Psalms, chapters 3 and 4, David made a conscious decision to state that which he wanted God to do for him in order to find rest. David states with intent that he will lie down and he will sleep.

Picture yourself getting much needed sleep just as a baby who is peacefully sleeping. Set a guard on your heart and claim the peace and sleep God wants you to have.
